SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION (SMP)

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is an innovative non-surgical hair restoration procedure designed to create the illusion of a full head of hair or camouflage hair loss and thinning. It involves the precise application of pigments to the scalp using specialized equipment, replicating the appearance of individual hair follicles. SMP is a versatile solution for various hair-related concerns, including receding hairlines, thinning hair, and even concealing scars from Alopecia to hair transpants. The result is a natural, low-maintenance, and long-lasting solution that boosts confidence and restores a youthful appearance. Whether you’re looking to enhance your hairline or cover up the effects of hair loss, SMP offers a safe, effective, and virtually painless option for achieving your desired look.

FAQ'S

Do I Need to Shave My Head Before the Procedure?

After your consultation or viewing images of your scalp and evaluating your unique situation, we’ll be able to suggest a length your hair should be cut before the procedure. However as a general rule I will usually shave the hair to a 0.5mm hair length. And I will also suggest that you keep your hair to this length for the best aesthetic.

Scalp micropigmentation is technically a semi-permanent makeup procedure. It does not treat hair loss, instead creates the illusion of hair on your scalp. Scalp micropigmentation can add density and volume to existing hair, restructure a hairline, or minimize the appearance of bald spots. It is a non-invasive procedure and can be an ideal alternative to hair transplant surgery.

The honest answer is that SMP can be mildly uncomfortable, some describe it as painful while others report that the pain level is not that bad at all.

For this reason, it is impossible to predict how much discomfort a particular individual will experience during the procedure, as pain tolerances are subjective.
* We offer numbing cream with lidocaine for those who are concerned about the pain

Hair transplant surgery is a widely known option for hair loss and it isn’t always successful plus it can be expensive. When this leaves scarring on the back of the head,  so people won’t think a hair transplant has taken place. So, having scalp micropigmentation to address this scarring can disguise any scarring.

Once you have undergone hair transplantation, you can opt for scalp micropigmentation to achieve a seamless and natural look. However, it is important to communicate any ongoing skin or scalp treatments with your SMP specialist during the consultation. This will enable them to tailor the SMP treatment to your unique situation and ensure the best possible outcome. Your SMP technician will want you to be 100% satisfied

There are several reasons why SMP is done over two or three sessions. And this again also depends on the procedure being done, the first reason is that the process of
SMP creates tiny micro wounds in the skin; the skin is essentially being punctured when each dot is applied, therefore a scab heals over the wound which eventually falls
away often taking some of the implanted pigment with it.
Furthermore, the immune system attacks the pigments, causing them to shrink slightly. This gradual “fading

Avoid treatments like hair dyeing, PRP injections, topical finasteride, and micro needling between SMP sessions as they can disrupt skin healing, stress or dry out the skin, or interfere with pigment retention. After completing SMP, you can resume your usual routine, but no guarantees exist that hair treatments won’t impact pigment retention.

Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive treatment because we are only going 2 layers into the dermis. Unlike traditional tattoo ink, which is deposited five layers into the skin. Why? Because at this depth, the pigment keeps its shape and form without any spreading

The scalp will take approximately 7-10 days to fully heal?

The scalp will take approximately 7-10 days to fully heal.

Typically 2-4 hours for each session. A final touch up session after your complete SMP may or may not be required.
That will be determined after complete healing has taken place.

Scalp MicroPigmentation or SMP as it is commonly known is not a regular tattoo but a highly specialized process by which tiny deposits of pigment are positioned within the dermal layer of the skin to replicate hair follicles.
When applied by a skilled practitioner, these deposits mimic the look of real shaven hair or will add the appearance of density to longer hair.

While it is possible to do two procedures within the same week, we recommend waiting 7-10 days to fully heal before doing your next session.

Yes, scalp micropigmentation can be highly effective in creating realistic and natural-looking hair. So long as the technician is experienced and highly skilled, they can follow the natural pigment of your skin to create a seamless design.

No, there is absolutely no risk of the colour turning blue or green. We use a Carbon based pigment, which contains no blue or green undertones. As with all permanent makeup, fading will occur over time as your skin ages.

The longevity of your SMP depends on a few variables, some are within your control, such as adhering to SMP aftercare and long-term care, and some are out of your control such as immune response and skin chemistry. On average your SMP should last between 3-5 years before a touch up is required. However there are always exceptions to this rule, some might need a touch up after two years, some might need a touch up annually and then there are some whose SMP still looks great after 5 years.
